This is the second movement from FIVE PIECES IN FIRST POSITION, for cello and piano. The work requires advanced beginner/early intermediate bowing with an octave harmonic on the D string and “false” harmonics, though much of the work is basically in 1st position with a few extensions and double stops. The challenge is the work needs to be played with slow, smooth bowing, and soft dynamics to create the “foggy” mood and ethereal ending. ASTA LEVEL: 2/3.
